{"id":103,"date":"2017-01-23T10:47:37","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T10:47:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/woodburnerinstall.uk\/faq\/?p=103"},"modified":"2024-01-31T10:38:07","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T10:38:07","slug":"how-often-should-i-get-my-chimney-swept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/woodburnerinstall.uk\/faq\/2017\/01\/23\/how-often-should-i-get-my-chimney-swept\/","title":{"rendered":"How often should I get my chimney swept?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It really depends on what you will be burning and what kind of appliance you have, as to when it will next need sweeping.<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>Open fires<\/strong> without a chimney liner burning;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Smokeless fuel or seasoned wood;\u00a0<\/em><\/strong> sweep <strong>once<\/strong> every\u00a0year<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Bitumous coal;<\/strong> sweep every\u00a03 months when in daily use.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For<strong> Oil <\/strong>or<strong> Gas fires; <\/strong>\u00a0sweep <strong>once<\/strong> every year<\/p>\n<p>For<strong> Multifuel stoves, Log burners or open fires, <\/strong>with a liner or twin wall pipe, burning;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Smokeless fuel;<\/strong> \u00a0 sweep once every\u00a0year when you stop using your fire for the Summer. Avoid if not in Smoke controlled area. This will help prolong the life of the stainless steel in the liner or twin walled pipe.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Seasoned wood only;<\/strong> sweep\u00a0when you stop using your fire for the Summer and then after three months when you start using it every day. For example;\u00a0June and January and April. (Less in a warm year)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Bitumous Coal;<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<em>sweep\u00a0when you stop using your fire for the Summer and then half way through the burning season.
